I use sterling silver ball head pins to hold the Venetian glass heart bead and then a sterling silver ball before finishing with a loop.  The loop is then used to attach and suspend the heart below the sterling silver earring hook.  The process is repeated to make a matching pair of Venetian glass heart earrings.

The only problem you will have is deciding which colour to choose!  I use 19 different coloured hearts, 13 are single coloured covering the full rainbow spectrum from red though gold to blue and lilac.  The other six colours are striped.  A few examples can be seen below.

The Love Pearls bracelet is a simple string of freshwater pearls in a warm neutral cream with a lovely sheen and hanging from the centre is a Murano glass heart all finished with sterling silver fittings.  The glass heart is 20mm in size and the bracelet length is 7″ to 8¼” with the adjustable end providing a secure fit for everyone.

I have shown the love pearls bracelet here with silver and gold hearts but they also look amazing with any of the Murano glass heart colours I use including red, blue and amethyst.

The design below is a one-off bespoke jewellery design for Art @ Sudborough and has been created using genuine Murano glass beads complimented with Tiffany glass beads and Swarovski crystals and finished with sterling silver fittings.

The Murano beads used are 20mm square with black glass on the inside covered with pieces of gold and silver leaf and covered in crystal clear glass.  Each bead is individually handmade so no two are exactly the same giving great individuality.  Although the centre is black they still have the great depth and vibrancy you would expect from any Murano glass bead.

The bespoke design is for the Art @ Sudborough event on the Jubilee weekend so if you like it get down there and  see this and the full selection of bespoke designs I have created.  Let me know what you think of this latest design and if you would wear these colours.

Jewellery is a good sorce of materials for up-cycling, we have all had jewellery that we have loved wearing and then it has sat in a box for ages or part of it is damaged but you don’t want to through it away so why not up-cycle that pre-loved jewellery or get someone like me to do it for you.

A couple of weeks ago I was given a brown paper bag and inside was a selection of polished cream coloured agate beads.  They had been used before but were now just beads ready to be made into an up-cycled necklace.

To make the necklace I laid out the beads and chose the order in which they looked best, as they varied slightly in size.  I decided that they needed something between them to help with movement of the necklace and to add another aspect to the necklace, so I used 5mm sterling silver beads and Swarovski crystals and mixed them.  The mixed beads were also the right size for covering the unsymmetrical ends of the polished agate beads.  In this case the other beads were new but you could use beads from another piece of old jewellery and up-cycle them both together.

The back was finished off with more Swarovski crystals and a sterling silver clasp to create a bespoke necklace and made to last another life time!  Let me know what you think about re-cycling and up-cycling jewellery or contact me if you have any jewellery you want to give a new life to.
